2003 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Casalina Family Vineyard, Old Vines
MEDAL WINNER

This multiple-award-winning wine just added another medal to its resume. This came at the 2007 Indy International Wine Competition, billed as the largest international wine competition held in the United States. The Bronze Medal at The Indy adds to the Silver Medal awarded at the Florida State Fair International Wine Competition. This wine as also adjudged a "Wine Women Want" at the National Women's Wine Competition, with exclusively female judges. This is the last vintage from old vines which have since been pulled out - 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Casalina Family Vineyard located in the heart of the Napa Valley between St. Helena and Calistoga.  With sufficient acidity to age well and to accompany food, it is a big wine at 14.4% alcohol, yet with more fruitiness and softer tannins than the 2002. Like its older sibling, this vintage will benefit from some cellaring and but is now hitting its stride, approaching its peak in 2008-2010 and continuing to improve.

Our regular restaurant accounts have quickly snapped up much of this very limited-production wine, and less than 6 cases remain as of May 21, 2007.  Last year's 2002 vintage of this wine has sold out at the retail level.
